Here are the major ingredients in our under-eye gel cream:
Aloe Vera – This hydrating gel that comes from the cactus-like aloe plant is high in vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, and amino acids that help heal skin. Antioxidants, like vitamins C and E, help prevent the formation of free radicals while zinc acts as an astringent to tighten pores. Aloe vera has anti-viral, anti-fungal and cell regenerative properties to help with collagen production, while polysaccharides encourage skin repair and new skin cell development to make the skin less wrinkled and more elastic. Aloe vera contains a pain reliever to soothe and prevent skin discolouration, dark spots, puffiness, UV-induced hyperpigmentation and sun damage. Aloe vera also contains salicylic acid which acts as an exfoliator, helping to unclog pores and remove dirt and dead skin. Salicylic acid is also an effective acne treatment because it acts as an anti-inflammatory on the acne-causing oil glands. Aloe vera gel is mostly water, making it a great hydrator for dry and flaky skin without the greasy feeling.
Castor Oil – Full of antioxidants, this oil helps fight free radical damage and promote overall skin health. The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties make it great for cleansing, treating irritated skin and acne, and reducing puffiness. Castor oil contains triglycerides to moisturize and soothe burns, and features humectant properties that allow skin to draw in and retain moisture from the air. Fatty acids in this oil promote the growth of healthy skin tissue, helping to smooth and soften skin while evening out skin tone. It also has a low comedogenic score, making it unlikely to clog your pores so it is suitable for sensitive skin.
Retinol –Also known as Vitamin A1, retinol boosts collagen production to help reduce wrinkles and fine lines while speeding up cell turnover to even out discolouration and brighten the skin tone. It is also effective at unclogging pores to help reduce acne. It also stimulates new blood vessel production to improve skin colour. Retinol has been known to help reverse sun damage, signs of aging, and improve skin texture by blurring blemishes.
Niacinamide – This water-soluble vitamin, also known as vitamin B3 or nicotinamide, works with your natural skin substances to decrease the size of pores, even skin tone, and reduce dullness, fine lines, and wrinkles. It also helps build keratin, a protein that helps keep skin firm, tight, and healthy. Niacinamide forms a lipid barrier to help your skin retain moisture and regulates oil production. It also helps to reduce redness, blotchiness, and hyperpigmentation, while protecting against sun damage.
