Top 5 reasons to include rose water in your skincare routine

Rose water… the secret ingredient in all your DIY face masks!

Infused with the goodness of rose petals, rose water is excellent for cleansing and moisturizing skin. According to board-certified dermatologist, Stacey Chimento, “Roses have been used in many over-the-counter beauty products such as face masks, drops, and facial oils.” Rose water, in particular, is great for the skin because of key ingredients such as vitamin C, polyphenols, as well as other antifungal and antibacterial properties.

It’s been used for thousands of years in both beauty products and foods and beverages since it has plenty of potential health and skincare benefits, including the following.

1. Moisturizes your skin

Chilly weather and harsh winds can strip the skin of its natural oils. The resulting dryness can cause rashes, fine lines, and irritation. Including rose water in your facial care routine deeply hydrates your skin from the inside out.

Spritz it all over your face after washing your skin and let it soak in, or add it to your favorite face mask for an instant glow.

2. Evens out skin tone

If you’ve been relying too much on your concealer lately, you can switch it up with rose water to smooth out discoloration and hyperpigmentation in your skin.

You can also whip up a quick DIY rose water face mask. All you need to do is combine lemon juice with rose water, massage it onto your face, and leave for 10-15 minutes.

3. Minimizes wrinkles and pores

Rose water serves as a cleansing agent to clear impurities from your pores when they become clogged with everyday dust and residue. Add it to your exfoliant to give your skin that gentle scrub down, giving you a fresh, bright complexion.

It’s also well-known for anti-aging properties and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

4. Helps you de-stress

Turns out this magic water is also an antidote for stress! The scent of fresh petals helps elevate the mood and can also help treat headaches and migraines. It’s been used in massages and aromatherapy for quite some time: place a rose water soaked cloth on your eyes and forehead for some relaxing time out!

5. Youthful lips

Have you been neglecting your lips lately? With the onset of winter, your lips scream for all the extra attention and care. Using rose water on your lips moisturize and make them look pink and youthful.

Take a cotton ball, soak it with rose water, and dab on your lips. Then apply your favorite lip balm to lock in moisture and that’s it! You have toned, supple lips!
